2014 - 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month and weekend dates are announced throughout the year

Not classes or guided trips, Where’s the Whitewater? are just opportunities to get out and paddle with fellow whitewater paddlers on numerous rivers throughout the year! For these outings we will go where the water is, and look at running a variety of rivers with rapids ranging from Class I to III and occasionally Class IV.  Trip locations may be from 20 min to 3.5 hours away. Examples of rivers, creeks, and park n’ play spots we’ll hit throughout the year include (in no particular order): middle and lower Haw, Eno, Flat & Little (in Durham Co), Mayo, Maury, James, the Weldon Wave, Cape Fear, Falls Dam Wave, Whitewater Center, Staunton, Wilson Creek, Dan, and more!

Notification on locations will be posted in the Triangle Whitewater Paddling Facebook Page or you can call to see when the next one will happen.

Paddlers coming along on a Where’s the Whitewater? Day should have previous experience, and sound judgment regarding self-assessment of their personal kayaking skills and abilities.  Below are some self-assessment guidelines that we suggest:

Class I/II Trips - participants should have, at minimum, taken a Kayak Clinic or Intro to Kayaking Class, or preferably our River Fundamentals Kayak Class, or equivalent training or experience.

Class II/II+ Trips - participants should have, at minimum, taken our River Fundamentals Kayak Class, or Intro to Whitewater Kayak Class, or have equivalent training or experience.

Class II+/III Trips - participants should have, at minimum, taken our Intro to Whitewater Kayak Class, be able to hit their roll, or have equivalent training or experience.

Class III/III+ Trips - participants should have, at minimum, taken our Intro to Whitewater Kayak Class and have a solid kayak roll, or have equivalent training or experience.

Class III+/IV Trips - participants should have, at minimum, taken our Whitewater Skill Building Weekend, and have a bombproof roll, or have equivalent training or experience.

These are NOT classes or guided trips.  Please be realistic about your personal paddling abilities when choosing one of these trips.  If you are searching for formal instruction or guided trips they are available through one of our excellent Kayak Classes or our Exploring NC Guided Trips.
