Seeds of Adventure Day Camps - ages 5-7 |
|
Seeds of Adventure Camps have Urban and Rural options that are centered around daily expeditions. Urban camps meet each morning at the Frog Hollow office and consist of activities to help campers discover and understand the prolific natural world smack in the middle of our wonderful city. Rural camps meet daily in north Durham where we explore Durham County “wilderness.” Camps run 9am - 3pm each day. An Extended Hours option is available until 5pm for each camp.
MARCH 26 ADVENTURE DAY (Teacher Workday) The kids have a day off, but parents may not. Let us help you out and take your child hiking and kayaking for the day! Adventure Days are scheduled on select teacher workdays and holidays. Sessions run 9am - 3pm. Cost is $50/participant/day. An extended hours option is available until 5pm for an additional $12

JUNE 11-15 SEEKER CAMP (Urban) This week explores the natural side of our amazing town by visiting parks, gardens, and trails. Activities will focus on identifying and understanding our surroundings through observation, maps, and compass use.
JUNE 18-22 HOME SWEET HOME CAMP (Rural) This camp week will focus on the discovery and exploration of the many homes that surround us in the natural world. Ponds and streams, burrows and leaf litter, tree trunks and high branches, campers will safely explore the homes and habitats of our regions residents.
JULY 09-13 GO WITH THE FLOW (Urban) From a drop of rain, to our town’s water works, campers will explore first-hand the water cycle and how we interact with it.
JULY 16-20 SEEKER CAMP (Rural) Campers will set up their very own “base camp,” from which they will explore and learn about creek beds, deep forests, rocky outcrops and more! Activities will focus on identifying and understanding our surroundings through observation, maps, and compass use.
AUGUST 13-17 WHAT DO PEOPLE DO ALL DAY (Urban) Following the lead of Richard Scarry’s wonderful books, campers will discover the inner workings of the wonderful town of Durham. Baking bread, urban gardening and forestry, recycling, construction, creation of delicious treats, and more will be explored over this week!

Our Camps Guiding Principals - Set in a supportive and nurturing environment, activities are designed to educate campers about various outdoor skills and/or ecology, as well as challenge them in an effort to foster confidence and personal growth. With trust and respect as corner stones of these sessions, we create a positive learning environment, enabling campers to gain a comfort and understanding of themselves, others, and the great outdoors.
