Whitewater Kayak Skill Building Weekend

2012 Weekend Sessions:

July 28 & 29 + pre-trip refresher day

August 25 & 26 + pre-trip refresher day

Oct 27 & 28 + pre-trip refresher day

 

This multi-day session is a great way to hone existing skills or take them to a new level.  This session will take place on a Class III section of river and be run mostly as a “park & play” set up.  This will allow participants to become highly familiar with very specific rapids and thus gain a great overall understand and confidence of river dynamics and boat control.   This weekend session will build off skills from our Intro to Whitewater Class and allows participants to explore skills at their own pace - skills such as river reading, scouting, ferrying, eddying, peeling out, following specific lines, basic river safety, rolls and braces, front surfing, side surfing, spins and more!

 

Over this weekend session we will be camping at the French Broad River Campground which is right along the French Broad River. Also, each participant is  encouraged to join us for a pre-weekend refresher of bracing and roll skills during one of our Roll Clinics, or for a small additional fee may schedule their own date.

 

We recommend taking this class following one of our Intro to Whitewater Kayaking Classes or at minimum registrants are required to have taken our River Fundamentals Class, or another outfitters equivalent class.
