River Kayak Fundamentals

2014 Dates - Mar 16, April 20, May 24, June 22, July 26, August 17, September 27, October 19, November 22

If your idea of a good time kayaking, is heading down moving water and negotiating Class I, and II rapids?  Then this is the class for you!

River reading, eddy turns, peel outs, and upstream ferrying, identifying hazards, and basic self rescue, are just some of the fundamental river skills that are covered in this class.  These sessions take place in stable recreational kayaks.  Whitewater kayaks may be requested but require a mandatory wet exit and roll session within the week prior to class (this service is an additional $55 and must be coordinated over the phone).  However, folks who own their own white water kayaks are welcome to bring them on the sessions, please just be sure to inform us when you register.

After completion of this class consider joining us on a Where’s the Whitewater? Day.  Also, clients should check out our Seasonal Gear Store for awesome Special Order deals.

Combining the River Kayak Fundamentals Class with an Intro to Kayak Class offers a great opportunity to fully immerse yourself (pun intended) in kayaking skills that will benefit the rest of your paddling life.  Links with directions, items to bring and wear, and waiver forms can be found below.
